Let me propose you with a question: Is permanent better than temporary? Would you rather have a regretful tattoo with your ex boyfriend's name, or would you prefer an exquisite pattern that only lasts for two weeks? Where tattoos are concerned, I'd say that temporary is better. I'm not talking about the cheap sticker-like tattoos you can get at the Crazy store, my interest lies in the cultural Henna tattoos. A fun and temporary way to artistically express yourself on your skin.
Henna originated from ancient India, native Indians and various Arabic locations and was used for cosmetic and health-related purposes. Henna was also used to stain the fingertips of pharoahs prior to the mummification process. These days Henna is mainly used as a subsitute for permanent tattoos and for individual expression without the pain.
During the holidays I was invited to this all-girl Mehndi night event. A friend of mine got married to this Indian guy and it was traditional for the bride to have Mehndi on their hands or feet. It was such a glorious event, there were even Belly dancers, but the best part was ofcourse the Mehndi. Here's a few pictures:
Those of you who know me well know that I am quite an artistic person so just the other day I decided to use my own artistic abilities and bought myself henna. I've only doodled a few patterns on paper, but when I'm one hundred percent sure that I've got the right design then will I transfer them onto my hand. Maybe I should put my designs first on this blog... Maybe I could even offer my Mehndi services to others... What do you guys think? Either way I'll definately keep you posted about my designs. Once again don't be afraid to comment.
